TOP 5 MISTAKES
beginner eFoil riders

eFoiling is a new exciting sport that you want to try quickly. Previous experience in surfing and other "board" activities, where riders have good control of their body balance, will be useful in progression, but there are nuances (below). If you want to avoid the top 5 electrofoil mistakes and improve your riding, keep reading!
TOO SLOW
This sounds strange to a newbie, but it's true. The first association with a bicycle is that if you pedal slowly, it will be more difficult to control. Weaving left and right, lacking balance control, you will be much less stable than if there was more momentum carrying you forward. The same principle applies to electrofoil. You must slowly increase your speed to begin flying safely over the water. At eFoil Waydoo we can clearly recommend the required speed for launch, displacement and hovering, relative to the rider's weight.
NO PRESSURE ON FRONT LEG
One of the most common mistakes beginners make is when the weight goes too far back and the front leg doesn’t work. This is what distinguishes foiling from most “board” sports, where the bulk of the weight of the board rests on the back foot rather than the front foot.
This need is equally felt both when the rider rides prone and when he is almost standing on the board. At the same time, the nose of the board constantly wants to come out of the water and throw you back. In order to stand up in a controlled manner, it is very important to have enough weight on your front leg. It is important not to drown your nose. The recommended weight distribution for a controlled exit of the board above the water is 60% in front and 40% in back.
INCORRECT POSTURE DURING RIDING
Bending your knees is important for riding any type of board, but if you bend your knees and lean your body forward, you'll feel the weight bearing on your toes and the nose of the board will begin to sink uncontrollably. If you often fall forward with your eFoil or are unable to turn to one side, then you have problems with your riding posture. You must relax to fix it!
You can't master the board if you're a «motionless stone». Before you step on the board, take a deep breath and focus on your posture. When you are on your feet, your head should be aligned with your hips and shoulders. The gaze is directed into the distance, not down. Look where you want to go. The pressure is uniform over the entire area of the foot.
GETTING UP TOO FAST
This is mainly for surfers who are trying eFoil for the first time. Don't rush to get up for the sake of getting up. Otherwise, you will have to “get up” often, as you will often fall. In efoiling there is no dependence on external factors. You create the waves yourself. You don't have to be in seconds to avoid missing a wave. You must control the board. Take your time, proper stance and weight support are critical to long rides.
USING THE INCORRECT EFOIL
Is eFoil easy to learn?
We wouldn't say it's very easy, but it's not as difficult as learning to surf or wingfoil.
E-Foil, of course, requires practice, but the first steps can be mastered within the first hour of riding. Many begin to float above the water after 30 minutes. Therefore, we can confidently answer that learning on eFoil is definitely faster than on other “board” sports. And in the second lesson, the rider will fully experience all the pleasure of soaring above the water and independence from external factors of weather and waves. You yourself create the waves, you yourself create the wind!
